About Us

In fashion as in history, it's all about the details and embellishments.  Inspired by the storytelling of bygone days and intricate weaving of tales, Good Girls Studio repurposes the past into present day fashion. With classic wit and whimsy, vintage artifacts are transformed into signature pieces of jewelry; each creation a glimpse into the lives of an array of women. From the stay-at-home mom to the globetrotting business owner, Good Girls appeals to women of every age and stage in life. The connecting theme of womanhood and empowerment shines through in the stories and names of each piece.

Johanna Ely is the one woman show behind Good Girls Studio. She left a successful career in luxury goods management in 2007 to pursue a creative business that would allow her to work from home and raise her son. Good Girls Studio was born! Based in Raleigh, NC, she continues to tell HERstory from her home studio while her daughter Ellie plays with beads alongside Mommy.

Her work has been featured in Belle Armoire Jewelry Magazine, The News & Observer, Indy Weekly, Triangle Style Magazine, and a Designer spotlight interview for Midtown Magazine. Ms. Ely has also been a featured designer on the local morning show My Carolina Today and on the runways of Fashion Spark and Redress Raleigh. Good Girls creations have graced the necks of celebrities such as Tessandra Chavez of World of Dance, Chelsea Lee of Shaed Band, Hannah Stocking of Youtube fame and choreographers Sonya Tayeh and Stacey Tookey on So You Think You Can Dance.
